Nothing is the way it used to be.

The light of a tram makes its way through the deserted streets of the city. Masked people stare motionlessly out of the window and talk on their smartphones. Shops, hotels and restaurants have had their windows and doors firmly closed for months. Theatres and cinemas have long since switched off their stage lighting. The big city floats like an abandoned tanker across the ocean into the night.

The sampler „Ghost City“ provides the sound picture for this apocalyptic scenario. Wafting synthesizers, unpolished guitar riffs and elegiac vocals orchestrate the pulsating sound of a big city that has been shut down for months. Wonderful acoustic songs celebrate tender love in a fleeting time.

„Ghost City“ is like a shining star, a slice of an infinite galaxy of sounds and sound syntheses. It shows the bandwidth of the pulsating musical city of Berlin.

With the „Lockdown Sampler“, the union of the most diverse musicians for this project sets a sign for the power of togetherness. A common brand for the necessity to promote music culture and art beyond the current crisis and to preserve it for all of us.

Nichts ist mehr so, wie es einmal war.

Das Licht einer Straßenbahn bahnt sich seinen Weg durch die menschenleeren Straßen der City. Masken-Menschen blicken regungslos aus den Fenstern und sprechen mit ihren Smartphones. Geschäfte, Hotels und Restaurants haben ihre Fenster und Türen seit Monaten fest verschlossen. Theater und Kinos haben schon lange ihre Bühnenlichter ausgeschaltet. Die Großstadt schwimmt wie ein verlassener Tanker über den Ozean in die Nacht.

Der Sampler „Ghost City“ liefert das Klangbild zu diesem apokalyptischen Szenario. Wabernde Synthesizer, ungeschliffene Gitarrenriffs und elegische Gesänge orchestrieren den pulsierenden Sound einer seit Monaten stillgelegten Großstadt. Wunderbare Akustik-Songs feiern die zarte Liebe in einer vergänglichen Zeit.

„Ghost City“ ist wie ein leuchtender Stern, ein Ausschnitt aus einer unendlich weiten Galaxie von Sounds und Klangsynthesen. Er zeigt die Bandbreite der pulsierenden Musikstadt Berlin.

Der Zusammenschluss unterschiedlichster Musiker für dieses Projekt setzt mit dem „Lockdown-Sampler“ ein Zeichen für die Kraft des Miteinanders. Ein gemeinsames Brandzeichen für die Notwendigkeit, Musikkultur und Kunst über die aktuelle Krise hinweg zu fördern und für uns alle zu bewahren.
